An Attack On Our Freedoms
Whether we live in Athens, Ashtabula or Akron, most Ohioans believe our ability to live in freedom shouldn’t depend on what we look like, where we come from or what we believe in.
But today, Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies are trying to make us afraid of our immigrant neighbors so they can justify new ways to keep us from voting. They point the finger at Haitians who bravely came to Ohio to build new lives, hoping we’ll blame them – and not Trump and his billionaire backers – for our low wages and high prices.
We won’t let them terrorize our neighbors and we won’t let them take away our freedom to vote.
We’re coming together to say Hands Off Ohio. Hands Off Our Neighbors. And Hands Off our Vote.
They Know They Are Losing, So They Lie and Lash Out
When self-serving politicians cannot win on the strength of their ideas, they try to change the rules, silence their critics, and intimidate the people helping our communities exercise our freedom to vote.
Trump and his MAGA cronies have kicked registered voters off the rolls; drawn district lines to weaken the power of Black and brown votes; added new hurdles to voting early and by mail; and on June 11th, Trump’s FBI raided the Ohio Organizing Collaborative (OOC) - which runs Ohio’s largest voter registration program.
We've seen this playbook before: when self-serving politicians are losing, they lie and lash out.
But in Ohio, voters choose our leaders. Politicians do not get to choose which voters count.
They Point the Finger at Immigrants So We Won’t Blame Them
Trump and his billionaire backers have raised our prices, held down our wages, and rewarded themselves with huge tax breaks by slashing funding for health care and education.
They spread vile lies about our Haitian neighbors – hoping we’ll blame them, and not the billionaire class for our pain. Then they use ICE to terrorize our communities.
Now they are trying to keep us from voting against their cruel agenda by creating a fake panic about immigrants.
But Ohioans won’t let Trump hide behind hate. Not here.
This Is Part of a Bigger Pattern
The attack on our vote is part of the broader effort to silence critics and scapegoat people based on their race or where they come from.
All across the country, MAGA politicians are rigging the rules to keep people from voting. They’re flooding ICE onto our streets to kidnap neighbors and sow fear in our communities.
Ohioans refuse to be divided. We’re standing together and demanding that Trump and his goons keep their Hands off Ohio.
